Forbes 30 Under 30 list has been released for 2020, and under the Food and Drink category you will find the CEO of New Jersey based meal prep company Eat Clean Bro, Kayla Giovinazzo. Kayla and her husband Jamie Giovinazzo have taken the prepared food industry by storm and built a meal delivery service bringing in $15 million in sales this past year.
Kayla’s journey into the prepared food industry started in 2014 when she met her now husband Jamie Giovinazzo. One of their first dates ended with Kayla organizing the overflowing bin of food receipts for the newly started Eat Clean Bro, and not long after Kayla left her job to work with Jamie full time. Fast forward to 2020 and Eat Clean Bro has expanded from a small kitchen in Monmouth County, New Jersey to having production facilities in New Jersey and Atlanta, Georgia, servicing 11 states with plans to be available in 30 states by the end of 2020.
Kayla is proud of how far Eat Clean Bro has come in such a short time, and don’t be fooled by the “Bro” in the name, not only are over half their customers women, but so are their managers. “If you had told me during my four years at Rutgers University that this is where I would ultimately find my calling, purpose, and passion, it is safe to say I would not have believed you. I graduated Rutgers in 2012 with a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology. While pursuing my degree, I worked as a department manager at Nordstrom. I truly value the time that I spent there as it instilled in me the customer service standards that our business is based upon today. I had been working at Nordstrom for five years, actively pursuing a full-time career in law enforcement, when I met Jamie. His excitement for his work was infectious. Over a pile of disorganized Restaurant Depot receipts (which, might I add, he tricked me into organizing on one of our first dates), we discussed his ultimate goal of changing the way people ate. Making clean, delicious food affordable, convenient, and healthy, was his singular priority, and not long after, I realized it was mine as well. I remain amazed at his dedication and am excited to see it manifested and mirrored in our customers' satisfaction. I look forward to spending the rest of our lives pursuing our dream job, surpassing expectations, and facilitating a healthy, happy lifestyle for everyone!” – Eat Clean Bro CEO Kayla Giovinazzo
Being a master multitasker, Kayla has not only spent the last few years building Eat Clean Bro, but also building her family. Kayla and Jamie were married in 2017 and are now the proud parents of their son Giorgio, 1, and will be welcoming their daughter into the family early this year (Kayla is currently 8 months pregnant).
“If you know me you know that I am definitely a behind the scenes kind of person, so this is a little weird, but I just want to say thank you to everyone. We are super excited to be featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list this year. I want to say thank you to our customers, all of our amazing employees, our families, and just everyone who has had our back and cheered us on over the past couple of years. And we are not done yet, so definitely keep an eye out. 2020 is a big year for us, so stay tuned. From my family at Eat Clean Bro to yours, thank you.” – Eat Clean Bro CEO Kayla Giovinazzo
